Robert Morton | wildlife artist

Wildlife artist Robert MortonRobert Morton has been illustrating wildlife for over thirty years, working in watercolour with occasional use of body colour for highlights and definition.

In the late 1960s, after some months in South Africa studying and sketching the fauna in the Umfolozi Reserve near Durban, he returned to England and spent a year based at Pagham in West Sussex. The daily walk round the harbour, the passing seasons and the excitement of the migratory periods all helped to inspire his work and invigorate his passion for British wildlife.

He held many successful one-man shows in galleries along the south coast and widened his interests by taking on much illustrative work, covering a broad spectrum of wildlife from butterflies and dragonflies to ducks, elephants and dinosaurs.

In recent years, now living in the depths of Nottinghamshire, Robert has built up a stock of artwork, some of which is offered here for sale at attractive and affordable prices. To buy a print is all very well—but to own an original is altogether a different matter. The prices of the paintings displayed on this website—all original works of art, framed or unframed—vary from £200 to £600 and are subject to negotiation. Contact Robert for further information.

Robert works to commission, and will undertake paintings of anything feathered, furred, scaled or clawed. He is also happy to consider ‘pet portraits’ of cats and dogs.
